Empire Dine and Dance

Kevin Midgley's Small Orchestra and The Dark Hollow Brewing Company. Rural blues band with drums, harps, guitar and mandolin splits the night with some kind of crazy string band group. A soundman's nightmare and pure delight for the hearing impaired. Old people: take your meds and bring your walkers to the Empire! Young people: put granny and gramps in the car and get your family drink on! If we aren't playing I'll be some pissed! Check out www.kevinmidgley.com IT'S ALL TRUE!

Is it a sit-and-enjoy sort of scene or a get-up-and-dance sort of scene? The stuff I've heard sounds down-tempo, but maybe not representative of a live show?

It's a mix of stuff. Traditionally a lot of this music is juke dance or picnic dance, but some of it is pretty mellow. It isn't jump or Chicago style blues: it is more southern and rural. If you got sounds from my website chances are you will not hear much of the singer songwriter material at all unless someone asks for it. As for Dark Hollow Brewing I don't know too much about their set. -Kevin
